Stopover and Holiday Gites

Holiday gites (Gîtes de séjour) are ideally suited to groups of friends and families who want to spend a weekend away or a holiday together. They also cater for groups looking for a venue to hold a conference, nature and discovery classes, or sports courses.

Stopover gites (Gîtes d'étape) are a great way to stop off and rest up on a hiking, cycling or riding trip. Many owners provide both stopover and holiday gîte accommodation.

 Rating

The Gîtes de France quality label guarantees specific standards of accommodation (1, 2 and 3 ears of corn) and compliance with the national charter. All stopover and holiday gîtes are inspected and assessed on a regular basis.
All offer living and sleeping areas, in bedrooms or dormitories with comfortable bedding (some supply sheets) and shared or private bathroom facilities.
Depending on the particular gîte, you will have the use of a fully equipped ("self-service") kitchen or be able to take advantage of catering arrangements provided by the owner (meals, packed lunches, restaurant-inns).

 Price

The prices given in the entries are for an overnight stay (stopover gîtes), per week or weekend (holiday gîtes), per person for the entire gîte.

 How can I book?

Lorsque celui-ci vous est adressé par le Loisirs Accueil, une assurance annulation vous est proposée et vous recevrez, lors de la confirmation de votre réservation, une carte de bienvenue vous offrant des réductions ou des entrées gratuites dans plus de 80 sites, châteaux et musées de la Touraine.

 Helpful tips

Some stopover and holiday gîtes are approved by the Ministry for Youth and Sport and the Ministry of Education, and can therefore accept bookings for stays during term time (nature and discovery classes).

High-capacity holiday gîtes provide keenly priced accommodation for large families, and are ideal for a Christmas, New Year break and a great way to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary or other festivities in the country. One word of advice, however: for long weekends and bank holiday weekends, remember to book well in advance.
